Carlos Paradona Rufino Roque
Life Story
Carlos Paradona Rufino Roque, born in Inhaminga, Sofala Province, completed his fourth class at the Official Dondo Primary School in 1973. He then attended the Preparatory Cycle Dr. Baltazar Rebelo de Sousa and Pêro de Anaia High School in Beira City and was a Mozambican student in the Republic of Cuba.
In 1980 he published his first poems on the Diálogo page of the extinct newspaper News of Beira. He also collaborated with poetry, short stories and essays in the Diário de Moçambique, Letras e Artes do Jornal Domingo, in the Revistas Tempo, Charrua, Forja and Eco throughout the eighties and nineties. In 1992 he published his book of poems The Pregnancy of Luar and later the novels Tchanaze, the Maiden of Sena (2009), N’tsai Tchassassa, The Virgin of Missangas (2013) and Karota N’tchakatcha, Spears and Myths (2019). It has works published in Portugal and Spain.
Carlos Paradona Rufino Roque, is a member of the Association of Mozambican Writers (AEMO), since its foundation, and represents Mozambique, since 2009, in the Juror Corps of the Grand Prize SONANGOL of Literature, Republic of Angola.
