Elísio Macamo is a professor of sociology and African studies at the University of Basel in Switzerland. Born and raised in Xai-Xai, he graduated from Maputo, Salford and London (England) and Bayreuth (Germany). It has several academic works published on various topics, namely risk and disasters, intellectual reflection in Africa, development, politics and methodology. He is the father of three daughters and has three grandchildren.
