Hortencio Pedro Cornissal, nwas born in 1967 in Luabo, Chinde District, Zambézia Province.

Agricultural Engineer, MSc and PhD (PhD) in Agricultural Sciences and specializing in soil management and conservation at Kharkov State Agrarian University.

Author of several scientific articles published within and outside the country on handling, soil management and plant production. He has been an Auxiliary researcher since 2001 at the Mozambique Agrarian Research Institute (ILAM), of which he was Regional Director of the Northeast Zone Center in Nampula province, and then moved to the South Zone Center in Gaza province. He taught at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Mussa Bin Bique the disciplines of Soil Science and Land Conservation and was also President of the Scientific Council of that University. He was a professor at the Pedagogical University, Part-Time Nampula Delegation. He has been Coordinator of the Provincial Center for Science and Technology of Nampula Province and has been Member of the Scientific Agriculture Council of the Ministry of Science and Technology since 2007. He has also been a member of the Mozambique Academy of Sciences since 2009.

Since 2008 he has been an auxiliary professor at the Gaza Polytechnic Higher Institute teaching the Fertility Modules of Soil, Soil and Earth Science and since 2009, General Director of the same Institute.
