The roar of Toga: Lessons of Judge Paulino(1)

(...). Being a magistrate is much more than an option of life. It is a true mission that must be lived with total dedication and devotion. You can't be a magistrate just in the normal working time! The magistrate is even in his leisure moments, in his vacation.

(...). Crime is a destabilising factor in any country. No one can live in peace if crime makes room. There were times when state borders somehow delimited criminal phenomena. Today, with globalisation, borders are a minor obstacle. Cyber crimes and the generosity of transnational crimes did not fear borders and calvary the world with impressive speed. In bringing to his work the fight against crime, Judge Paulino wanted not only to share his concerns, but also to draw attention to the relevant actors to the need for coordinated and supportive work to combat this reality.

(...). The dignity of the human person covers a diversity of values, unique and distinct, which make it worthy of respect and consideration by the State and the community, and therefore imply a complex of rights and duties. (...). It follows that the worthy man is the one who has a conduct that earns respect and consideration of others. It is a person who assumes his individual and collective responsibilities, who watches over his own good as part of the common good. A worthy person is one who shapes his behavior aware that he is part of a community, and that any step he takes will have a positive or negative influence on the whole of which he is a part."
