For an Art Sociology in Mozambique
For an Art Sociology in Mozambique
This work focuses on the relationship between local artistic production (plastic arts) and its connection with the global through the relationship between national and transnational actors. Based on the presuppositions of post-coloniality and subalternity advanced by Said (1979), Appiah (1997), Appadurai (1988), Bhabha (1998, 2001), Spivak (2010) intends to realize the structuring, production, dissemination and legitimization of the plastic arts in Mozambique, capturing its nuances and structuring brands in two distinct periods: 1975-1986 and 1987-2016. The choice of these periods is due to the fact that the two correspond to paradigmatic moments distinct from Mozambique's political, economic and cultural history. In fact, it is about looking at the aesthetics of the Mozambican social, which can help us understand the artistic dynamics in Mozambique.
