"The Metamorphosis and Other Tales" is a collection of narratives where citizens and citizens parade at the mercy of the complexities of a society that strangles and transfigures them, such as Mozambican, as it could be in some corner of this immense Africa.

The colorful scenarios and character profiles are characteristic of rural and suburban environments. In those places the protagonists of the tales represent their multifaceted cultures and particular beliefs; each one in their own way manages individual, family and social conflicts. It is in this multicultural universe where they interact, perplexities and conflicts settle, the plots of stories ferment and evolve in social daily life.

The narratives of "The Metamorphosis and Other Tales" constitute social records of part of the history of this great Africa in the various moments of its colonial and postcolonial journey.
