THE FAST AND TIME

The Reach Editors is pleased to bring to the reader this anthology of Armando Artur's poetry, one of the most important poetic voices in Mozambican literature after independence. It is a selection of texts made from the books of the poet published to date. Both the organizer and the editor understand that this is a way to honor the poet, who already has 35 years of literary production.

As the scholar Ana Mafalda Leite says, «the choice of poems from the ten books of the poet of Zambézia, published between 1986 and 2019, was like a sifting of books for the capture of jewelry, which stand out for its simple preciousness.». The organizer, Lucílio Manjate, drew a different anthology than usual in works of this kind, seeking to capture not only the jewels of the poet, but also to identify, in Arturian thought, a Mozambican citizen and the world. So this is a work that can serve students and scholars of Mozambican literature and arturian poetry in a particular way, and lovers of poetry in general. This first sense can be complemented by a more private approach, the second meaning of this anthology, which is present in the testimonies of friends and confreres of many years of literary debate and interviews granted by the poet. Face and Time is therefore a complete, sincere, clear and homogeneous book about one of the most versatile poets of our day.
