Cape and Confining Poems and Other Extensions
This is a book of confined affections: I think of the context that generated much of the poetry here decanted. In this sense, the image of an asphyxiated voice can reach the reader. This decantation is therefore an exercise of catharsis which, while revealing the essential affections of the poet, irremediably in dialogue with this context of the Covid-19 pandemic. By implication, it is able to be, therefore, a book also of the reader as a subject who, in the reading process, will sew the memory of the confinement of his own emotions, habits and dreams, finally, the memory of the «love of times turned upside down». But this coincidence, more than inviting us to remember or to forget, makes this book above all an ironic gesture of courageous questioning the unfathomable future and confirms Armando Arthur as one of the great voices of the universe of Mozambican poetry.
