THE arrival of the fifth class book, updated in the context of the new curriculum introduced in the primary education of the National Education System, will not compromise the classes of this level.
The material was expected to arrive in the country at the end of May, but the last edition will not be on national territory until the end of June.
According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINEDH), Gina Guibunda, the delay is due to the Covid 19 pandemic, which affected the world, "we think that by the end of June the book is in all national territory, to be allocated to the provinces and to the children in schools’,’ he explained advancing that students will only need this material from the second quarter of school that, in principle, starts at the end of this month.
The student's book, textbooks and scripts of the teacher of the other primary school classes are already in schools. However, they have not yet been delivered to the recipients as a matter of strategy. Like the fifth class, they are not yet necessary, except for the first. He recalled that hybrid education is scheduled for this year, in which students should learn at the same time the contents of the previous level and the 2021 school year, due to the adjustment made when returning to classrooms.
Guibunda added that the interruption of classes last year to slow down the pace of spread, the sector adopted measures to bring both at the same time.
" With hybrid education, we want students to develop basic skills to advance. The pandemic situation is complicated and we don’t know when it will end," he said.
He said that if the epidemiological evolution is favorable, the education system could stabilize and flow again normally from 2022, with the return to the school calendar in the previous model.
