TCHANAZE the maiden of the Seine – Carlos Paradona Rufino Roque
TCHANAZE – THE SENA DONZELA
The novels that have been published in recent times in Mozambique, among which Tchanaze, the Maiden of Sena, are categorically detesting some current of thought according to which the novel is an art with which Mozambicans deal with difficulty, and with less competence, perhaps even inability. But some people don't think that way. For the scholar Ana Mafalda Leite, "the novel is a kind of hybridization of forms, and probably the Mozambicans choose and opt for their own models, on the way to formation, different, therefore ending up escaping other models considered canonical.
The story of the book has as epicenter Sena, where Tchanaze, elects the most desired woman of all women, the one who was fire and fire from the hearts of the men of Sena and also Mutarara, passing through Murraça, Chipanga, Caia and even Cheringoma, lived with their own. But Tchanaze not only conquered the hearts of the living but also the spirits who lay on the floor of Sena, seduced by the beauty of his body, the brightness of his masses and the appetite of his virginity. The scenario of the book takes place between Inhangoma, Gorongoza, as well as in Kumalolo, the area below and the source of Sena, right next to Zambeze, near Caia, sanctuary of the greatest sorcerers and witches, who incarnated in the lives of people already deceased and who dictated the fate of the people who inhabited that place. A curse engendered by evil people caused Tchanaze to contrasise in the fucua, a deadly disease that is contracted by the curse of the spirits that inhabit the valley of Zambeze.
